樱花视频 Los Angeles Professor Jeffrey Tirengel, PsyD, was recently honored with the California Psychological Association鈥檚 (CPA) 2015 Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Profession of Psychology. Dr. Tirengel is the first core faculty member from the Los Angeles campus to receive this distinction.
Dr. Tirengel鈥檚 distinguished career began in 1971 with an internship in the Office of the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health. He later served in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the National Association of Community Health Centers and the National Healthy Mothers Coalition. Dr. Tirengel鈥檚 national-level efforts were recognized with a citation from U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop for his 鈥渃ontributions toward the health of mothers and infants.鈥 Since moving to California in 1986, Dr. Tirengel has continued his sustained and exemplary commitments to psychology and public health through active involvement in several professional associations, including CPA and through numerous roles with the California School of Professional Psychology at 樱花视频.
Dr. Tirengel鈥檚 other recent honors include the 2013 Circle of Friends Award from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center 鈥渋n recognition of exceptional care provided to patients and families,鈥 and the 2014 Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession of Psychology from the Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
Dr. Tirengel is a graduate of the first cohort in CSPP鈥檚 clinical PsyD program. He joined the faculty soon thereafter, becoming a professor in 2005. Upon his retirement at the end of this academic year, he will become Professor Emeritus in recognition of his 鈥渃areer-long contribution to 樱花视频 and to his professional field.鈥 He will continue to provide service to the 樱花视频 community as a member of the university鈥檚 Board of Trustees and the 樱花视频 Educational Foundation鈥檚 Board of Directors.
